In a refrigerator (1), the region of a support surface (10) in the cooling chamber (2) normally falls below the dew point when a door wall (4) is opened. This can lead to ice forming in this region and freezing there onto a sealing strip (11) connected to the door wall (4). To prevent this, it is known to fit a heating cord (20) in the region of the support surface (10). According to the invention, the heating cord (20) is to be fitted behind an elastic element (18) and the cooling chamber housing. Thus the heating cord (20) can be very easily mounted merely by lifting the elastic element, and a defective heating cord can be very easily and quickly exchanged in the same manner. This exchange can take place so quickly that the cooling operation is virtually unaffected by it. <IMAGE>
