PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium with superior durability, by adding a specified surfactant to a magnetic recording layer to improve the wear resistance of the layer. CONSTITUTION:To a magnetic recording layer is added a surfactant having a perfluoroalkyl group represented by the formula (where R1 is H or alkyl; R2 is a group contg. carboxylate, alkylene glycol or quat. ammonium salt; and n is 6-12), e.g., an anionic surfactant such as C8F17SO2N(R)CH2COOK (R is alkyl), a nonionic surfactant such as C8F17SO2N(R)CH2CH2O(CH2CH2O)5H (R is alkyl) or a cationic surfactant such as C8F17SO2NH(CH2)3N<+>(CH3)3I<->. Thus, the wear resistance of the magnetic layer is improved, and a magnetic recording medium with superior durability is obtd. |
