PURPOSE:To improve the function of an input/output controller, by providing an interface in addition to an interface for transfer of input/output data in order to change the control or processing function of an input/output controller or to share the function of a central processing unit. CONSTITUTION:A primary interface is provided between a central processing unit CPU and an input/output device IOC to transfer the normal data. At the same time, a secondary interface is added. The control functionsI, II and III of the CPU side or processing functions A, B and C are provided when necessary via the secondary interface. On the other hand, the CPU shares the processing or control function of the IOC via the secondary interface and also collects the desired information through the IOC. Thus the IOC is actuated in an optimum state, and an IOC of simple constitution can have the function equivalent to an IOC of high performance. |
