PURPOSE:To provide a transfer printing sheet capable of transferring an image formed thereon onto an arbitrary article and a decorating method utilizing the image, by providing a releasable image-receiving layer on one side of a sheet form base. CONSTITUTION:A releasable image-receiving layer 2 is provided on one side of a sheet form base 1 of a transfer printing sheet 1. A desired image is formed at the image-receiving layer 2 by using a transfer sheet comprising a thermally transferable dye, then the layer 2 with the image is released from the base 1, and is adhered to an arbitrary article. The transfer sheet 10 comprising the thermally transferable dye (sublimable dye) as a recording agent is placed on the transfer printing sheet 10, with a dye support layer 21 of the sheet 20 facing the image-receiving layer 2 of the sheet 10, and thermal energy is applied thereto, preferably, from the side of the sheet 10, whereby the desired image 7 is formed at the layer 2. The image-receiving layer 2 with the image is ad hered to an object to be decorated, by releasing it from the base 1 or without releasing it from the base 1. |
