An industrial process and installation for drying lengths of pasta prods. such as macaroni and spaghetti. Moist, cut lengths of prod. are hung astride a series of parallel, horizontal rods which convey the prod. through a predryer. Within the predryer, the temp. of the prod. is progressively raised to 100 deg.C, or slightly higher, just before the rods move out of the predryer. The pasta lengths are recovered from the rods and cut to final length. At the same time, any bent lengths are eliminated. The pasta lengths are then transferred to a final dryer of the type which conveys the pasta lengths in rotary cages. Pref. the predryer delivers into a machine which lifts the predried lengths from the conveyor rods, trims any bent ends from the lengths and places the lengths in horizontal, rotary cages of a final drying conveyor. The invention is concerned with drying lengths of a pasta prod. such as macaroni and spaghetti. |
