PURPOSE:To enable multicolor recording by a constitution wherein recording electrodes are arranged on both surfaces of a dielectric supporting base plate and auxiliary electrodes are provided through the intermediary of solid dielectrics in a recording head using the electroosmotic phenomenon of liquid ink to the solid dielectrics. CONSTITUTION:When a negative signal voltage is impressed on one of recording electrodes 20a arranged on one surface of a solid dielectric supporting base plate 10 by operating a switch Sa as the side A, a negative electrode is formed for an auxiliary electrode 60a, and liquid ink 80 is thereby moved electroosmotically along the end surface 41a of a solid dielectric from an impregnated body 70a, filling up a depressed groove 20a on an exposed end surface 12a and forming a protruding part 85. When a positive signal voltage is impressed on recording electrodes 30b arranged on the other surface of the plate 10 by operating a switch Sb as the side B, on the other hand, a part 86 wherein no ink is present is formed in a depressed groove 20b by the inverse electroosmosis. The protruding part thus made to be of high density is made to fly by a counter electrode 210, and thereby recording of high resolution can be performed. In addition, a two-color image can be recorded by providing ink having different color on the opposite sides of the supporting base plate 10, and a multicolor image can be recorded by providing recording heads in two sets. |
