<p>PURPOSE:To provide a stable printing image quality despite the heat accumulation status of an ink head by feeding paper to a next line after the elapse of enough time for suspension of heating of a thermal head following the termination of printing a single line. CONSTITUTION:If a printing startup signal START is entered, a strobe signal generation circuit 2 sequentially outputs strobe signals STB 1 - STB 4 to each group of thermal heads 1. The strobe signals STB 1 - STB 4 vary according to a heat accumulation condition, while a paper feed inhibition time set up at a 'paper feed ready' generation circuit 5 is constant. Consequently, a voltage application control signal COMMON also varies and its pulse width becomes short in accordance with the heat accumulation of the thermal head 1. Then with the ending of this control signal, application of a voltage to the thermal head 1 terminates. Thus during a transition from the termination of application of a voltage equivalent to a single line to the shift of the thermal head to a next line, i.e. for a period until the ending of a 'paper feed ready' signal PFRDY, the thermal head 1 is to be given time T for suspension of heating.</p> |
