The bushing device has an element (4a, 4b) which is connected directly to the conductor (2) and consists of an elastic material having a dielectric constant which is virtually identical to that of the parts (6a, 6b) holding it. The elasticity of this element allows it to abut closely against the conductor and thus produces a virtually unchanged absolute dielectric constant over the entire space which is available for the insulation, as a result of which the maximum occurring field strength is reduced to a minimum. <IMAGE>
