A box for a cassette awning essentially consists of a plurality of interconnected extruded aluminium sections, namely a rear-wall section (1), a ceiling section (2) extending perpendicularly to the upper edge of the same and a floor section (3) extending perpendicularly to the lower edge of the rear-wall section (1), and also two closing covers (4) at the end faces. For interconnection of the sections (1, 2, 3), provision is made, on one section in each case, for at least one continuous connecting rib (5, 9, 10) extending in the longitudinal direction of the section, and for inserting the connecting rib on the adjoining section provision is made for at least one continuous receiving groove (6, 8, 11) extending in the longitudinal direction of the section. The sections (1, 2, 3) are firmly interconnected at the factory to form the box by inserting the connecting ribs (5, 9, 10) into the receiving grooves (6, 8, 11), introducing adhesive and attaching the closing covers (4). <IMAGE>
