PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform waterproof terminating part having high reliability by constituting a waterproof wall by the use of rubber parts of simple construction which are beforehand made uniform without using any resin at all. CONSTITUTION:A waterproof terminating part consists of a rubber sheet 6, a sealing material, an airtight rubber part 8, a lock ring 8, an arbor, a retainer 11, and an O-ring 12. Vulcanized rubber such as ethylene propylene rubber is suited for the sheet 6; in terms of waterproof functions and the constitution of the terminating part, the suitable rubber hardness is 30-60 (JISA) and the suitable sizes are about 2-8mm. thickness, 20-40mm. width and 20-100mm. length. Holes 6-1 for containing optical fiber cores and slits 6-2 are provided to the sheet 6. The holes 6-1 are the holes of the inside diameter equal to or slightly smaller than the diameter of the optical fiber cores, and the terminal parts of the sheet 6 are bias cut so as to eliminate a level difference when the end faces are rounded and superposed. |
