TIP FILLER METHOD OF ROLLED BASE MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To provide a rolled base material with a hard-to-break tip material in a filler method at advantageous cost by supplying part of the tip material into a mold to necessary length while fusing it, and solidifying the tip material together with the basematerial in one body. CONSTITUTION:One end of the base material 12 is inserted into the mold through a hole 11 to project from the internal surface of the mold. An adequate amount of slag is contained in the mold and a filler metal 13 is inserted from above in the opening of the mold; and the rolled base material 12 and filler metal 13 are applied electric current and cooling water is circulated in piping 10. The filler metal 13 is fused gradually to stay at the lower part, and consequently a layer of the slag 14 is pushed up, so the extent of the lowering of the filler metal 13 is adjusted. The supply of the filler metal 13 is carried out until a prescribed amount of the filler metal 13 is fused and supplied and after it is solidified, the upper part of a side wall 3 and a side wall 4 are removed to take out the rolled material 12 having the filler metal 13 atop.
