Process for producing coded coins

The invention relates to a process for producing coins or tokens from metallic materials, with a coding consisting of ferromagnetic material particles, one or more wafer-like or strip-shaped particles of a ferromagnetic material being welded by laser beam on the cylinder surface of a stamped-out coin blank and being impressed into the basic material by compression, according to Patent Application P 3204445.3. The coding of coins is intended to improve their security for use in vending machines. A further improvement can be achieved if, in the said process for producing coded coins, there is used as a basic material a layered material which is known per se for coin production and which has at least one continuous layer of ferromagnetic material.
