The invention relates to a device for measurement or calibration of surgical vessel clamps with a frame having two heads which rest against each other in a start position and can be moved apart by means of drive units and have hooks for spreading the clamping jaws of a clamp to be tested apart. The reaction force acting on a reference opening width on spreading apart of the clamp is translated into an electrical converter signal by means of a transducer, and is directly displayed in appropriate units and, furthermore, printed out. An adjustable stop arrangement which ensures that clamps of different size are each inserted to the depth predetermined by the stop is preferably provided.
