PURPOSE:To obtain the required sufficient quantity of actually emitted light, by providing a selective control means which shifts a selecting means for the 1st dimming system and the 2nd dimming system forcibly to the position for selecting the 1st dimming system in accordance with the detection signal of a means for detecting the change in the irradiation direction thereby enabling the selective use of the 1st dimming system and the 2nd dimming system in the stage of ordinary flash photographing and using always the 1st dimming system by reflected light in the case of performing flash photographing in varying irradiation directions. CONSTITUTION:A selective control means 27 selects the selection input terminal 23 of a selecting means 22 in such a way that the emission of light by a flash discharge tube 10 is stopped by the 1st dimming system which makes common use of a control circuit 26 for quantity of light together with the 2nd dimming system when the distance up to an object is in a set distance in ordinary use, and selects an another selection input terminal 24 so as to stop the flash emission by the 2nd dimming system when the distance up to the object is out of the set distance. |
