PURPOSE:To reduce the variation in tensile strength between charges by using mixed refrigerant of blast and mists as cooling medium for steel materials, and regulating the amt. of the mists properly according to the C equiv. and diameters of the wire rods thereby regulating the strength level of the wire rods. CONSTITUTION:Steel wire rods which are coiled after hot rolling are cooled by using cooling medium consisting of blast and mists, whereby the wire rods are patented. The amt. of the mists is regulated properly in this case to meet the target strength level in accordance with the relation expressed by the equation according to the diameters of the wire rods and the kinds (C equiv.) of steel. In the equation, K; a proportional constant (0.8-1.2), W: the density of water quantity (cc/cm<2>.min), Ceq; C equiv. (weight %), d; the diameter of the wire (mm.), DELTATS: TS-TS0, TS; the target tensile strength kgf/mm.<2>), TS0 the tensile strength obtained only by the cooling with blast (kgf/mm.<2>). |
