<p>The slot meter comprises a box with a sliding front panel opening to allow the box to be emptied. A lock fastens this front panel. Inside the box a coin shute extends down from the top surface. A security mechanism prevents the coin being withdrawn. The fall of the coin is blocked by an electromagnet. A finger extending into the slot is activated by a coin in order to operate switch contacts. The electromagnet is operated by a pulse derived from an external control, in order to allow the coin to fall into the box. At the same time, a counter or timer is started. The appliance may only be turned on in this way, if the switch is activated by a suitable coin acting against the finger.</p> |
