An inflatable tubular seal with an especially favourable ratio between its overall height in the relieved condition and that in the inflated condition. It is thereby possible to seal off even wide gaps (1), even when the space (5) available for accommodating the seal (4) is only limited. In the relieved condition, the seal has a H-shaped cross-section or a cross-section with a plurality of folds and, in the inflated condition, adopts an approximately circular shape. <IMAGE>
