Title compds. (I; n = 1,2; R1 = H, C1-2 alkyl; R2 = H, C1-3 alkyl; R3 = C1-4 alkyl, pheny1-C1-4 alkyl; R4 = C1-8 alkyl; R5 = C1-10 alkyl; R6, R7 = H, OH, halogen, NO2, C1-3 alkoxy, C1-3 alkyl; X = pharmaceutically accepted anion) were prepd. and used as efficent and potent compds. for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. Thus, 9.1 ml dimethylsulfate was added to 17 g N,N-dimethyl-4-phenylbutylamine in 500 ml diethylether at 0≦̸C for 90 min followed by reacting at room temp. for 12 hr and recrystallizing with 300 ml acetone to give 27.64 g I(n = 2; R1,R2 = H: R3,R4,R5 = Me; R6,R7 = H; X = SO4)(M.P., 122-124≦̸C).
