A trailer coupling for vehicles is composed of a transverse carrier, a downwardly open housing which is attached to the latter and of a spherical neck which is provided with a coupling ball, can be inserted into the housing and can be locked detachably thereto. The locking takes place by means of the actuation of an eccentric tensioner. The latter is formed from an eccentric which is mounted in the spherical neck and is rigidly connected to an angular lever which serves for its actuation. A tensioning bar which can be folded out and in is swivellably mounted on said angular lever. The tensioning bar has a projecting end on the joint-side, which end, when in the unlocked position, prevents the tensioning bar folding into the plane of the angular lever by hitting against the spherical neck. On the side of the spherical neck there is a hollowed-out, recessed guide which in the locked position permits the tensioning bar to swivel into the plane of the angular lever.
