A process for heat sealing of packages which are thermoformed from a polystyrene sheet and have lids of a covering sheet, and for subsequently individualising the packages by punching. The technical problem of the invention is the separate handling of the residual sheets. The sealing of each package takes place in a peripheral, linear region. The punching cuts for punching out each package are made outside the linear regions. The remaining, not intersealed residual gridworks of the sheets are taken away from each other and wound up separately. <IMAGE>
