The invention relates to a valve, in particular a bottom valve for a tanker vehicle, having a housing and a sealing element which can be moved relative to a valve seat by means of a lifting rod or the like. In a valve of this kind, the sealing element must, on the one hand, be sufficiently flexible in order to be able to compensate for irregularities, grooves and minor damage to the valve seat. In valves of this kind, the materials hitherto used for the sealing elements were, in particular, rubber or similar materials but, as is known, are attacked very readily by acids or other aggressive media and have a comparatively short life at least under such conditions of use. Other materials, on the other hand, do not have the required compensation ability and adaptability. It is therefore proposed according to the invention that the sealing element should contain a flexible and/or elastic core, that the core should be at least partially surrounded by a shell consisting of a resistant, in particular acid-resistant material, and that the shell is clamped to the core, preferably by means of two plates, in such a way that the medium to be sealed off by means of the sealing element is kept away from the core. <IMAGE>
