PURPOSE:To make the combined voltage for all phases symmetrical by a method wherein the number of windings of partial coils among the coil group for each phase is selected to be a proper value different from the number of windings of other coils. CONSTITUTION:In a polyphase armature winding of non-integer groove winding and 2-layer lap winding type such that the number of grooves (q) for each pole and each phase is given by q=(A+C/B) where A represents a positive integer, C/B represents a simple fraction and B=3, the number of windings of partial coils among the coil group for each phase is selected to be a proper value different from the number of windings of other coils. With the above construction, the combined voltage for all phases can be made symmetrical without an increase in cost, and it becomes also possible to sufficiently restrain higher harmonic components as well as lower harmonic components which would deteriorate the characteristics. |
