<p>PURPOSE:To precisely read out a card independently of the thickness of the card and the depth of a recessed part by expanding the moving distance of a steel ball used as a detecting material by a ball pressing spring at the reading-out of the steel ball and transmitting the expanded signal to a contact spring to open/ close a contact. CONSTITUTION:When a card 6 is inserted from a card insertion port 14a of a housing body 14 into a card traveling passage 5 of a card reader, a steel ball 7 moves upwards in accordance with the thickness of the card 6. On the other hand, the steel ball 7 moves downwards by a through hole for a program and a through hole for synchronous signals in the card 6. Consequently a contact spring chip 11 is separated from a contact pattern 4a and the program is read out. If the moving distance of the steel ball 7 due to the thickness of the card 6 is defined as (d) in the reading operation, the steel ball 7 is contacted with a spring chip 8 at its center, so that the leading end of the spring chip 8 moves longer than (d).</p> |
