In a free-wheeling hub for bicycles or the like, having a hub element bearing spoke flanges on both sides, a hub axis and a driver which is assigned to the hub element and has a free-wheeling device, the hub sheath (2), and adjacent thereto the driver (4), are each mounted directly on the hub axis (3). The bearings (5, 6, 7, 8) are of identical dimensions, likewise the bearing cones (9 and 11). The free-wheeling device has a locking latch carrier ring (16) which is attached fixed in terms of rotation by means of knurling (17) in a cylindrical shoulder (15) of one spoke flange (13). The locking latches (18) engage radially inwards with spring tensioning in a counter lock (19) which is provided in the coaxial driver (4) and is composed of axial grooves, these grooves serving at the same time as driver grooves (20) for the chain rings (21) which are to be arranged fixed in terms of rotation and can be pushed on. <IMAGE>
