The invention relates to a front cover of a cage of a cage battery, in particular for poultry such as laying hens or the like. The front cover is according to the invention designed as a sliding grating which has cage bars running horizontally and parallel to one another. This leads to the advantage that the front cover is user-friendly as a result of its sliding grating design and at the same time suitable for animals as a result of the horizontal cage bars.
