A rail connection for electrical toy and model railways has connecting clips which bridge the point of connection between two mutually butt-joined rails and are in the form of flexible, substantially U-shaped sheet metal parts pushed onto the rail ends, the legs of which engage clampingly over the lower flange of the rail, the rails and the connecting clips being provided with locks and counter-locks which form an extraction safety device, and the locks and counter-locks being differently shaped at the two ends of a connecting clip or of a rail, so that only one pair can be released from its locking position by longitudinal displacement.
