CASTING FROM BOTH ENDS OF THE MOULD

A molten metal (5) is fed into a horizontally arranged mould (1) through an opening (2) made in its wall and cast strands (6) withdrawn from opposite ends of the mould. The meniscus of the liquid metal (5) is disposed outside the mould (1), and the rate of feeding the metal (5) into the mould (1) equals the rate at which the strands (6) are formed at the place where the metal (5) is fed into the mould (1).
