<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording and reproducing disc of which the surface is hard to flaw, by providing a thin protective film of high hardness with a transparent metallic oxide on the surface of a disc having a disc substrate made of a transparent synthetic resin, a metallic reflection film formed with signal pits, and a rear protective surface. CONSTITUTION:A metallic oxide such as CeO2, SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3 or the like is deposited at 100Angstrom - severalmu thickness by a sputtering or vapor deposition method by electron beams on the surface of a metallic reflection film 3 having signal pits 7 of a disc produced by forming said film 3 on a disc substrate 2 made of a transparent synthetic resin and a protective film 4 on the rear side of the film 3, whereby a prtotective film 9 of several hundreds kg/mm.<2> Vickers hardness is formed. Flawing of the surface of the substrate 2 is thus prevented, and the erroneous recording, erroneous reproducing and mixing of noises by the flaws are prevented.</p> |
