The boiler has a circular tube nest (1) with lower and upper headers (2,3). Water enters through the inlet (4), flows down one set of tubes and up another, to the outlet (5). The burner (9) and combustion chamber (8) are located above the heat exchanger. The combustion chamber is refractory lined (11) and discharges the hot gases through the interconnecting opening (6) in the heat exchanger. The cooled gases pass through the heat exchanger casing (20) to the outer casing (18) and through to the flue (17). Condensate is collected in the outlet branch (19).
