A tyre (8) for a motorbike has a tread (10) with two rows of channels (12 and 14) which extend around the tyre (8). The channels (12, 14) of each row are inclined at equal and opposing angles with respect to a circumferential line of the tyre (8) and the channels (12) of one row are arranged offset along the circumference with respect to the channels of the other row. The channels (12, 14) are sufficiently long to draw water off out of the contact ellipse of the tyre (8). Two additional rows of channels (22, 24) which extend at an angle of approximately 90 DEG with respect to the channels 12 to 14 are also provided in the tread (10). The channels (12, 14, 22, 24) are completely bounded by the tread (10) and, as a result, movement of tread blocks, which would bring about uneven wear of the tyre, is reduced. <IMAGE> |
