A test device for an ignition distributor is proposed, by means of which ignition distributors can be tested. The test device comprises a metal plate, which is made of cast metal and which serves for supporting the drive shaft with a diaphragm plate and with a coupling, for accommodating a motor and for fixing flash lamps which by way of a light-conducting plate distribute the light uniformly for a display. The electronics and the display device are accommodated in a folding carrier which can be folded into an angle frame, the angle frame carrying the metal plate. The metal plate has two bars, between which a clamping device which is height-adjustable and serves to accommodate the test piece is located. <IMAGE>
