The device for separating the rind or skin from meat or bacon comprises a supporting table (1), a knife (3) extending at right angles to the direction of feed and a feed roller (2) which is arranged underneath the knife (3) and is provided with tooth-like, rib-like or spike-like projections. The feed roller (2) is provided with a plurality of successive spaced groove-like notches. In addition, the feed roller (2) is held in a bearing body (8) which extends over the entire operating length of the former and which has a plurality of bearings (9) which are arranged at a distance from one another and which engage with the groove-like notches in the feed roller (2). The feed roller (2) is thereby supported in thrust bearings over their entire length. The opposed thrust bearings are formed by a covering or the teeth (42) of a stripping comb (40). <IMAGE>
