The invention relates to an apparatus for trimming plate, comprising a plate shear and a roller table extending partially in front of and partially behind the shear. In order to simplify the known shearing systems and configure them in such a way that the plates can be handled in an advantageous manner, it is proposed that a track (5) should extend immediately in front of the blade side (4) of the shear (1), transversely to the conveying direction of the roller table (3, 2), on which track a plate carriage (6) with a length and a width corresponding to those of the plates to be trimmed runs at the height of the shear blade, and that the carriage (6) should carry a roller table (8) - which fills the gap in the roller table caused by the track (5) - and have sheet tongs distributed over its length. <IMAGE>
