A bandsaw with a frame; a first and a second saw-band roller for receiving and guiding a saw band, which saw-band rollers can be rotated about essentially parallel axes of rotation located at a distance from one another; a shaft and a spindle for the first or second saw-band roller; means for the fixed mounting of the shaft on the frame and a tensioning device for the saw band. The tensioning device has a support arm for the spindle referred to and an elastomeric member which carries the support arm in a compressible manner.
