PURPOSE:To prevent a leak of reaction gas from the peripheral part of a porous electrode, by filling a heat resistant material in or coating a heat resistant thin film on the peripheral part of the porous electrode to gas-tightly form said peripheral part of the porous electrode. CONSTITUTION:A heat resistant material is filled or coated to the peripheral part of a porous electrode to enable the air-tight forming. To obtain the air- tightness by filling, oxides of alumina titania, magnesia, zirconia, nickel oxide, iron oxide, chrome oxide, etc. are filled preferably sintered. While molten matal (alloy) can be embedded to the peripheral part. For instance, aluminum, zinc, tin, lead, etc. and their alloy are used. As an example, molten aluminum is buried and then oxidized and may be forming to alumina. Further the method of burying head resistant cememt in the peripheral part is provided. Air-tightness can e formed by coating heat resistant thin film on the peripheral part of the porous electrode. As the thin film, gold, silver, stainless steel, nickel, aluminum, etc. can be used. |
