The container for preparing compost comprises a cylindrical wall, a top cover and possibly a bottom. The wall is built up from identical rectangular plastic panels slidably interconnected along their upright edges. The first edge of each panel has a U-shaped cross-section having two sides at right angles to and a bottom parallel to the panel. The second edge has a similar U-section of larger dimension to grip around the first edge of an adjoining panel and a number of longitudinally spaced hook-shaped locating elements, each consisting of a projecting portion of the panel wall and a portion at right angles thereto pointing towards a cut-out in the bottom of this U-section.
