PURPOSE:To obtain the titled novel polyglucide useful as an immune enhancer having low side effect, etc., having specific molecular weight and main repeating unit, by cultivating a bacterium belonging to the genus Klebsiella capable of producing polyglucide A29-PS in a medium, collecting the polyglucide from the culture. CONSTITUTION:A bacterium (FERM-P 6317) belonging to the genus Klebsiella, capable of producing A29-PS is cultivated in a medium, polyglucide A29-PS is formed and accumulated in the culture, it is collected from the culture, and, if necessary, it is partially decomposed with an acidic substance, and a partially decomposed product is collected to give the desired polyglucide having about 20,000-300,000 molecular weight and a main repeating unit of a saccharide part shown by the formula (D-GluA is D-glucuronic acid residue, D-Man is D-mannose residue; D-Gal is D-galactose residue; R is a group wherein hydroxyl groups of C4 and C6 of D-gal are replaced with pyruvic acid residue and hydroxyl groups of C2 and C3 are replaced with acetyl group). |
