The chain is particularly for use as a conveyor in the foodstuffs industry, working in three dimensions and with detachable links. The links (8) are mounted in a row at their centre on a horizontal shaft (6) fixed in the bearing (5) of a roller (4) travelling along the chain track (3). A thrust plate (7) can be fixed to the shaft, and on which there is a control plate (10) actuated by an automatically-operated lug. The design combines simplicity of construction with low height and ease of conformity with hygiene regulations.
