The appts. includes one or a pair of hoppers for combustion and redn. of a combustible material. The hoppers can be provided with air lock chambers employed for automatic or manual loading of the material. The hot gas can be fed through a heat exchanger module to preheat air needed for burning the material. Another module is used to produce steam with the aid of the hot combustion gases, and the latter are fed through gas washing module. In one pref. plant, one hopper(s) is used for combustion of the combustible material, and has three vertical inlets for prim. air. A second hopper(b) is used for endothermic redn. Used for burning garbage, straw, peat, sawdust, or any other combustible material. The heat obtd. can be used for heating buildings etc. and/or for producing steam which may be used to generate electricity.
