Slide fastener stringer has teeth secured along one edge by single-thread chain stitches(4) formed by a heat-shrinkable monofilament, loops(4) of which encompass the teeth(2b,2c) on one side of the tape(1), and loops(5) of which cross on another on the other side of the tape. The monofilament is heated to shrink and set the stitch loops, and to pull the crossed loops into the other side of the tape from the teeth, which have grooves(9) for locating the loops encompassing them. Unravelment is resisted if a tooth-encompassing loop is broken by the slider.
