PURPOSE:To improve the precision of detection of the thickness of a web by improving the rate of independent utilization of data on the result of computation of diameters. CONSTITUTION:A diameter data storage control device 6 stores data on diameters from a diameter computataion circuit 11 into specified places in memories 8a and 8b according to set values in setting devices 7a-7c of a web thickness computation starting diameter, the average frequency of the thickness of a web, and outside-diameter jump widths. In addition, the device 6 transmits a series 1 (d1-di) of data on diameters sequentially to the memory 8a and, moreover, a series 2 (dm+1-dm+i) of data on diameters sequentailly to the memory 8b. A jump averaging circuit 9 finds the total sum of each of data in the memories 8a and 8b. Accordingly, the rate of utilization of data can be improved by using the data in 2i item pieces in the series of data on diameters obtained by the diameter computataion circuit 11. |
