Arrangement for stabilising a polarisation state in an optical fibre

Present in a curved carrier element, e.g. an optical fibre drum, is a preferably V-shaped 90 DEG depression (groove), which runs around the latter on the outside in the form of a helix and in which at least one optical fibre is inserted and fastened by applying mechanical tensile stress. The stress birefringence thus produced enables stabilisation of the polarisation state of the light passing through the optical fibre.
