The invention relates to a display device having a pointer (1) which can be rotated in front of a dial (5) about an axis (2) and consists of a hub (3) and pointer arm (4). Arranged between the dial (5) and pointer (1) is a cover plate (6) covering a light source (7). The pointer (1) has light reflecting surfaces (12) which are directed towards the observer's side and can be illuminated by the light source. In order to design the display device so that the observer can read it quickly, the illuminated surface, which faces the observer, of the pointer arm (4) extends uninterrupted from the pointer tip over the pointer axis (2) up to the other end of the pointer arm (4). <IMAGE>
