The inclination sensor detects tilt w.r.t. the vertical or horizontal and is designed for use with an indicator or a control device which prevents dangerous tilting of a machine or vehicle parts, e.g. a vehicle-mounted crane. A proximity sensor is arranged beneath a pendulum suspended inside a rigid housing. The sensor generates a magnetic field inside which the pendulum head moves. The proximity sensor produces an electrical signal when the deflection of the pendulum w.r.t. the sensor exceeds a certain value. The pendulum consists of a rigid rod which carries the pendulum head and is suspended from the housing cover via a gimbal linkage. Metallic contact between the pendulum head and the housing is prevented by a ring of rubber or plastics around the head. |
