Copolymers containing (A) isopropenyl alkyl ethers of general formula CH2 = C(CH3)-O-R where R is C1-5. alkyl, (B) esters and/or anhydrides of unsaturated dicarboxilic acids, especially itaconic, maleic or fumaric acids, and opt. (C) monomers such as olefins or dienes, are prepared using free radical catalysts. Uses include varnishes glues impregnating agents, finishing agents, plasticisers, thickeners, colloid protection agents, primers and films.
