PURPOSE:To enable free setting of the tempo of melodies used for time signals with a free variation thereof based on tempo data by memorizing the data for setting the tempo of a melody sound at the first address of an ROM in a time signal apparatus employing a melody sound for the time signal. CONSTITUTION:A sound generator 44 contains an oscillator 46 for outputting basic sound signals P1, P2 and P3 having a fundamental frequency necessary for synthesization of a time signal sound. The basic sound signal P3 is divided into a frequency specified by ROM program signals M6-M15 with a programmable dividers 48 and 50 to be converted into a desired scale. A notation signal from the divider 48 is converted into an analog scale signal with a notation address counter and a waveform ROM and a D/A converter. Envelop circuits 64 and 66 connected to a power source terminal of the D/A converter are made valid alternately for melody sounds and simultaneously for chime sounds according to signals M4, M5 and M16 from an ROM 32 and the analog notation signals are outputted alternately for melody sounds and simultaneously for chime sounds from the D/A converter. The sound generation length of the scale signal is set with a notation length counter 70 which is controlled by ROM program signals M1-M3 and signals TP2-TP6 from the programmable divider 48. |
