BAG-TYPE FILTER APPARATUS WITH INTERNAL AIR DIFFUSER

Filter includes a tubular support cage (26) within the bag (14) and a tubular perforated open-ended diffuser extending longitudinally in the cage and communicating with the bag open end to receive a reverse cleaning air blast for more effective distribution and cleaning of the bag. The diffuser reduces excessive flexing and abrasive wear of the bag to increase service life. Diffuser length is pref. less than the overall but more than half the cage length and the diffuser is spaced within the cage. in a multi-bag plant(28) each pref. has an internal diffuser.
