PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for pickling by coating Al or Al alloys on the surfaces of corrosion resistant metals or alloys of solid bars or composite bars then reducing the bars. CONSTITUTION:Solid bars or composite bars are manufactured of heat resistant metals and their alloys, in other words, netals such as Ti, Ta, Nb, Zr, V and Mo and their alloys. Al or alloys thereof are plated or melt sprayed on the solid bars or composite bars to coat said bars with the Al or alloys thereof. The bars are reduced to wire or bar materials with grooved rolls and swaging machines. In some cases, the coating layers of the Al or Al alloys on the surfaces are removed by immersing the bars in an aq. NaOH soln. |
