PURPOSE:To obtain a mechanical seal which is light, causes a little friction, generates no sound and is favourable in its corrosion resistivity, by manufacturing one side sealing ring from sintered carbon and the other one from tetrafluoroethylene resin filled with filling. CONSTITUTION:A sealing ring 4 is made of sintered carbon and a sealing ring 11 is made of tetrafluoroethylene resin filled with filling respectively. As both the sealing rings 4 and 11, therefore, are superior in their corrosion resistivity they are made into mechanical seals having favourable corrosion resistivity without generating electrolytic corrosion. Also, as both the sealing rings 4 and 11 are light and whole is made into light weight and they are superior in their follow- up performance to a shaft vibration. As shearing force of both the sealing rings 4 and 11 is small their friction force can be made small, and in addition to the above they can be turned into the ones generating no sound even if they are oscillated as one side of them is the sealing ring 11 made of the flexible tetrafluoroethylene resin. Both the sealing rings 4 and 11, moreover, are superior in their slidability as they are self-lubricatable. |
