PURPOSE:To treat plural pieces of end surfaces simultaneously, easily and efficiently, by holding an end part on which plural plastic optical fibers are bundled by bringing into contact with a heatable and oscillatable contact plate. CONSTITUTION:A core of optical fibers 4 is made of a methacrylic resin and a sheath thereof is made of fluoroplastics, and said fibers having 1.0mm. diameter and 500mm. length and bundled to 4 bundles in each 1,500 fibers per bundle and these are bundled by a holding pipe 31. The end surface of the optical fibers 4 is held in contact with a contact plate 23, and then the contact plate 23 is heated by a heater 21 until its surface temp. is raised to about 150+ or -5 deg.C and is oscillated in a vertical direction by turning an oscillating device 1 on and the optical fibers having the plain end surface are made to swell. |
